I would like to thank Diana Griffeth with North American Title in Southlake along with all of the agents who participated in yesterdays class, Real Estate and Taxes: What Every Agent Should Know.

Although this is subject is not on the top of most agent's list of "fun" subjects, your enthusiasm, energy, and participation made this class very enjoyable for all who attended.  Needless to say the four hours flew by in a hurry.  Thanks again to everyone who helped make this class enjoyable and informative.

It was with much anticipation that my sons and I experienced when we arrived at the Woody Hayes Athletic Center in Columbus Ohio last week. Although this was our third year of attending the youth football camp, this year’s buildup seemed to have more energy and excitement under the new direction of Coach Urban Meyer. All the coaches seemed more focused and intense than in years past. The campers were pushed to their limits under the hot sun that would even make a native Texan hot and sweaty. Both boys were born in Texas!

In case you don’t follow Ohio State football, Coach Urban Meyer was hired after the 2011-2012 football season.

As I watched and listened to the coaches as they interacted with the football campers. One motivational talk from offensive line coach Ed Warinner was especially memorable when he addressed all the youngsters.

Coach Warinner emphasized three important characteristics that would serve them well in the game of football. The three traits that Coach Warinner spoke about were: Character, Consistent, and Competitive. As he interacted with the boys, he would ask them what each of these traits meant. As the boys responded, he would restate their answer and then add to their response in order to ensure that everyone understood the true meaning and qualities that applied to each of these traits.

Character, Consistent, Competitive – three powerful traits that can help define a person well beyond a football stadium.

How do these traits influence you and how you interact with others at work, home, and everyone you come in contact with on a daily basis?

Simply stated your character is who you are all the time. Your character does not change from one situation to another. Your character is defined by your moral values that guide your individual nature and shape your reputation. Does your character standout amongst others in your field of business or in your personal life? Do others seek your advice and council? Are you dependable? Can you get the job done? Do you have a good character or just good conduct? There is a major difference between those two definitions. Look it up…

Hayden Parker and Coach Kirk Barton

How about being consistent? Are you constantly adhering to the same set of principles day in and day out? For example, do you keep in contact with past clients? Are your marketing strategies coherent? Do you make a plan and stick with it? Do your beliefs and views resemble your actions? You can accomplishment many things if you are consistent.

Are you competitive? Do you strive to outperform another? Do you focus your energy and effort to do your best every day, all the time? Do you endeavor to outdo others whether it is on the field of play or making your customers happy? Do you make sure that your reach exceeds your grasp?

Character, Consistent, Competitive, words that I have heard many times in my life. Thank you Coach Warinner for a very meaningful and motivational talk on a very hot afternoon in Columbus Ohio!

Some of us are destined to succeed, the rest of us are determined to succeed.
